Overview

Niuro is a strategic design project that explores how user-centered technology can support people experiencing emotional tension or mental stress in a work environment. The project’s goal was to design a tool that helps individuals – particularly those who are neurodivergentfeel understood, supported, and able to thrive in their workplace. Focusing on user research and empathy, our team set out to identify the hidden frictions and needs that contribute to stress, and to address them through design. This meant looking beyond surface problems to propose solutions structured around genuine human needs, and ensuring these ideas resonated on an emotional level. In the end, Niuro’s vision emerged as both an inclusive workplace strategy and an intuitive support system for employees.

Outcome

Niuro is an adaptive AI-powered platform designed to foster inclusive, emotionally intelligent workplaces. It tailors digital environments, team dynamics, and support tools to each employee’s unique cognitive and emotional profile. From onboarding to day-to-day collaboration, Niuro enhances clarity, reduces stress, and helps teams function more harmoniously. Its interface adapts to user preferences—such as tone of communication or visual stimuli—and provides real-time guidance for inclusive teamwork. By embedding emotional intelligence into everyday touchpoints, Niuro redefines what it means to design for mental well-being at work.

Research Focus

To uncover the nuances of mental well-being and inclusion in the workplace, the team combined benchmarking, expert interviews, and emotional mapping. HR professionals, neurodivergent employees, and inclusion advocates shared real-world frustrations—ranging from communication breakdowns to sensory overload. By visualizing emotional journeys and clustering recurring patterns, the research uncovered a clear need for personalized, adaptable systems. Scenario building then grounded these needs in everyday work realities, forming a design foundation rooted in empathy. The result: a deep understanding of how overlooked details shape belonging, stress levels, and human connection at work.

Key Learnings

Inclusive design requires flexibility—there is no universal solution for neurodivergent experiences. Emotion mapping and scenario building helped translate abstract needs into actionable system features. Designing for mental well-being isn’t about adding features—it’s about reducing friction, amplifying strengths, and creating space for empathy. AI, when used responsibly, becomes a tool not of control, but of care—amplifying the human side of work.

System

The system operates across three layers: personal adaptation, collaborative guidance, and organizational feedback. Niuro adjusts workspace settings to fit individual sensory needs, recommends inclusive team structures, and flags early signs of emotional strain. It uses AI to analyze interactions and tailor communication tone, task formats, and visual complexity. A dashboard provides HR with anonymized insights into team well-being, supporting long-term inclusion strategies. Niuro doesn’t just react to stress—it predicts and prevents it, enabling proactive care within digital and physical workspaces alike.
