The "RCV5 Cleaning Robot App Interface" project aimed to provide users with a seamless and intuitive way to remotely control and customize their cleaning robot. My primary responsibility was to adapt existing screens to align with Kärcher's CI and expand missing screens, ensuring a consistent and user-friendly experience. Utilizing iterative prototyping with Adobe XD and close collaboration with developers, the project followed a user-centered approach. The result was a fully functional and visually cohesive app, allowing users to remotely configure cleaning settings, manage maps, and monitor the robot’s progress.
The RCV5 Cleaning Robot App Interface provides users with comprehensive control over their cleaning routines. It enables remote management of settings, tracking of cleaning progress, and customization of cleaning parameters such as suction power, water usage, and cleaning frequency. Users can define no-go zones, save multiple floor maps, and set detailed cleaning schedules, allowing the robot to operate independently according to preset plans. This flexibility ensures a tailored cleaning experience that adapts to various household needs.
The project aimed to develop an intuitive app interface for Kärcher's RCV5 Cleaning Robot, focusing on user-centric design. Initial concepts were sketched on paper, facilitating rapid iteration and exploration of various layouts. This approach allowed for flexible adjustments before transitioning to digital prototypes. Multiple design variations were crafted to ensure consistency with Kärcher’s corporate identity across all screens. Close collaboration with the development team was essential to seamlessly integrate technical requirements, resulting in a user-friendly interface that aligns with both user expectations and technical constraints.
Early-stage paper prototyping facilitated rapid concept development and iteration. Ensuring adherence to Kärcher’s corporate identity across all screens was vital for a cohesive user experience. Continuous communication with developers was crucial to align design solutions with technical capabilities, resulting in a seamless integration of user needs and technological requirements.
The app features a user-friendly dashboard displaying real-time cleaning progress and robot status. Through the mapping function, users can create and store multiple floor plans, assigning specific cleaning modes and parameters to each room. The no-go zone feature allows for the designation of areas to be avoided during cleaning. The scheduling function supports the creation of recurring cleaning tasks with customizable parameters. Additionally, the app provides maintenance alerts, notifying users when brushes or filters require attention, thereby ensuring optimal performance and longevity of the device.
